Underneath is part of an ongoing series of small works that revolve around the journey across abstract landscapes. The old glue patterns on this old book cover looked like rippling waves. It gave me an opportunity to see if I could weave my favorite snake underneath. The main objective of this work was to create by subtracting rather than adding.

The haiku 'Foot in Deep' sprung from the philosophy used for this work. The Buddhist practice of telling stories with rather few strokes or words.

A hanging system is included on the back and can be easily mounted on a single nail.
